The Brahma Kumaris Environment Initiative has contributed to the Convention of Parties (COP) Conferences for over a decade, highlighting the connection between consciousness and climate change. 
The Brahma Kumaris Environment Initiative is about awakening greater environmental awareness within our own organisation, as well as collaborating and learning from others to foster sustainable lifestyles and capacity building. As a spiritual organisation our main aim is to help people to experience greater well-being through inner peace and universal values. Hence our environmental initiative is based on five main principles:

At the core of The Brahma Kumaris' work is the understanding of the connection between our consciousness, thoughts and actions, and their impact on the world. It has been seen that long-lasting change in any social or environmental system starts with a profound shift in the minds and hearts of people. The current environmental crisis is therefore a clear call to transform our awareness and lifestyle.
This initiative encourages greater understanding of the role of consciousness and lifestyle in environmental issues, through dialogues, partnerships, participation in UN conferences and local initiatives.

Environment

Brahma Kumaris - Environment Initiative

The benefits of Raja Yoga Meditation Includee positve affect on the health of both the mind and body. In addition to The Brahma Kumairs contribution to teaching free Raja Yoga Meditation, the organisation offers opportunity for a number of health care approaches Includeing traditional and complimentary medicine in facilites such as the Global Hospital at Mount Abu, India. 
 
**J. Watumull Global Hospital** - since 1992, a Brahma Kumaris inspired initiative, the J. Watumull Global Hospital and Research Centre and 3 other hospitals have been serving the region with a commitment to delivering health care to all irrespective of the patients economic or social standing. There is a mobile health unit which offers free health care to some of the poorest communities in India. 
 
**The Janki Foundation** - is a UK charity promoting spirituality in healthcare. 
Great advances in the field of medicine on the physical level have 
led to ever-increasing demands on the health services, but at the expense of a more human-centred ethic and practice. Spiritual awareness is an energy that transcends religion, culture, possessions, social status, and language. It strengthens our self-image, such as to enable the mind to become steady in the face of life’s challenges, and the body to stay within the limits of healthy function. 
 
The Foundation acknowledges the central role of positive thoughts and feelings, compassion and kindness in maintaining wellbeing and preventing illness. Through publications, experiential learning, talks, and networking, the Foundation provides opportunities to further such approaches among individuals and professionals.

**The Spirit of Humanity Forum** offers a global platform for leaders and change makers seeking to contribute to lasting transformation in the world. Such transformation requires a shift in our way of being to embrace higher values intrinsic to humanity, such as love, compassion, solidarity and peacefulness. 
Hence the task of the Forum is to support this emergent new paradigm through exploring core values in governance and decision-making. It provides a safe space for dialogue, sharing, and co-authoring a new and compelling narrative about who we are, how we could be and what we can each do to create a promising future for all. As far as possible, the Forum intends to model this new paradigm as it unfolds, by creating opportunities for silent contemplation, deep listening, mutual presence and an experience of ‘we’, a spiritual harmony amongst all that is. The purpose of the Forum is to explore:

<li>The process of change within the individual that enables transformation in a community or country; </li>
<li>The empowerment and sustenance of higher values and their practical implementation in personal, family, community and work life; </li>

<li> How we can hold onto our higher purposes despite the many pressures that can take us off course;</li>
<How we can support each other in maintaining hope as we move towards a new future.</li>
</ul>

Leadership

Since The Brahma Kumaris was founded in 1936, there has been a vision of genuine equality between men and women. Women from all backgrounds and walks of life have been encouraged to discover their inner power, true spiritual potential and their innate ability for inspired leadership. The qualities of the feminine, found in both women and men, are seen as necessary for leading humanity to a new era. Administration of the organisation has always been in the hands of women, most notably Dadi Prakashmani, Dadi Janki and Dadi Ratan Mohini. The Brahma Kumaris is the largest spiritual organisation in the world to be led by women.

Women

**The International Youth Forum** of The Brahma Kumaris is a global network of young adults (aged 16–30) across 50 countries. All are practising meditators who are interested in effecting change in our world.
With an understanding that a new way of living ultimately depends upon transforming and uplifting the human spirit, the Forum aims to encourage its peers - from all religions, ethnicities and cultures - to take up the challenge of re-creating their inner and outer environments by being deeply in touch with themselves.

<li> The Forum supports young people to develop:</li>
<li> An awareness of their inner peace and power</li>
<li>A moral compass for living</li>

The Forum works with organisations from all sectors, youth NGOs, government bodies, community and faith groups that want to introduce spiritual skills and values in working with young people.

International youth forum

As a faith based organisation, The Brahma Kumaris has been involved extensively with interfaith activities both nationally and internationally for many decades. Interreligious understanding and dialogue are important keys to encouraging interreligious harmony. The Brahma Kumaris has both hosted and participated in dialogues, projects, events, seminars and conferences, often in partnership with other organisations working towards the same aim. These include:

<li> Founding & co-ordinating partner for Interfaith Liaison Committee (ILC). The ILC was established as a Special Group under the UNFCCC during the 2013 Conference of the Parties (COP) to support the informal gathering of faith-based organisations (FBOs) actively engaged at the UNFCCC.</li>
<li> Founding & co-ordinating partner of the Geneva Interfaith Forum (GIF). The Geneva Interfaith Forum on Climate Change, Environment and Human Rights is a group of faith-based NGOs that gathers annually at the climate negotiation events (COP) to reaffirm the responsibility of each faith and spiritual tradition to care for the earth and plays a role in addressing climate change and its impact.</li>
<li>Founding & co-ordinating partner of World Interfaith Harmony Week, UN Headquarters, New York & Halifax, Nova Scotia as well as hosting events in several countries.</li>
<li> Participation at the Parliament of the World’s Religions. The Parliament Convenings are the world’s largest and most inclusive interfaith gathering, with an average attendance of 8,000 participants. Representation on the Board of Religious Leaders, Elijah Interfaith Institute. The spirit of Elijah is wisdom, inspiration, friendship and hope across religious traditions. Elijah’s mission is to foster unity in diversity, creating a harmonious world.</li>
<li> Ambassadors for The Peace Pledge to Live Loving-Kindness & Compassion; we pledge that in all we intend, think, and do, we shall strive to bring loving-kindness & compassion into action and into the lives of all we meet.</li>
<li> United Religions Initiative, a global grassroots interfaith network that cultivates peace and justice by engaging people to bridge religious and cultural differences and work together for the good of their communities and the world. </li>
<li> Executive Committee Member, World Congress of Faiths, promoting and sharing the personal values and public value of spiritual life.</li>
<li>Members of the Council of Religious Leaders, Religions for Peace, Europe, bringing together senior religious leaders from Europe’s historical religions. The Brahma Kumaris also participate in Religions for Peace activities around the World.</li>
